I've done it! I've read the article! It's certainly compelling and different to what's normally noted. You've put things like exaggeration, irony, surprise, etc. into a humour enhancement category, rather than as a means to explain potentially funny situations. Whether you're right or wrong? No ideas on my behalf. Nothing that can be put succinctly in a comments box. But since I'm here, here's a go at it.
My initial thought is that someone may say/believe something deluded, which isn't funny, merely against the norm. Get a response along the lines of, "Right, ok..."
Something unfortunate could happen to someone. Nothing serious. They might be walking down the street, lose their balance and fall. Delusion didn't cause that, while laughter may be generated in onlookers.
